I took a break from sewing and embroidering projects for my new book, to sew and embroider two new Blythe dresses. ;D these are available in my shop at artfire: http://littledear.artfire.com

I made these awhile ago for a project that fell through, so now I'm sharing them with you! These four panels (embroidery stretched on canvas frames) tell the classic story of Hansel and Gretel, in redwork with a twist (of pink.) I recently embroidered these dresses for the "Forget Me Not" exhibition at Junie Moon in Tokyo in August! They sent the same dresses and apron to several different artists to put on display in their gallery. I'm so excited to be chosen! These were really fun to work on. :) I really wish I could go to the show. you can see more pics at my flickr. :D

The show will feature artwork from many different artists dealing with the state of the environment and it's impact on the arctic.

My idea was that the arctic could one day become myth if it keeps disappearing. I embroidered a polar bear in the snow with northern lights looking at a 'mirror' image of a unicorn in clouds with a rainbow. it's embroidered on satin (which is really hard to photograph well! :P), and stretched on a canvas frame, measuring 9x16 inches.

Well, it's official, Book 2 is finally underway! The contracts are signed and I’ve already started doing dozens of illustrations that will become lots of awesome embroidery patterns. This book will be a sequel of sorts to Doodle Stitching, with lots of cool projects and TONS of fun, all new patterns. There’s a lot of work to do, so I’ll be a busy girl for the rest of the year, and fall of 2010 you’ll see it out there on the shelves! How exciting! I just had to share. :D (stay tuned, I may just drop a little sneak peak or two between now and then!)
